Dr. Sun Qijun, President of the Beijing Education Examinations Authority, holds a Ph.D. in Administrative Management from Peking University's School of Government Management. Over the course of his career, he has held several key positions, including Deputy Mayor of Chaoyang District, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chaoyang District CPC, and concurrently Director of the Beijing Olympic Park Management Committee. He was also seconded to Baoding, where he served as a Standing Committee Member of the Baoding Municipal CPC and Deputy Mayor. Additionally, he has held roles such as Deputy Director of the Office of Organizational Setup Committee of the Beijing Municipal CPC, member of the Education Committee of the Beijing Municipal CPC, and Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
Dr. Sun is deeply committed to educational administration, with a focus on enhancing public education services and strengthening the teacher workforce. He has spearheaded major initiatives, including the differentiated development of universities, vocational education reform, and the expansion of international schools. His work has had a profound impact on admissions reform, examination and evaluation policy, and the development of governance systems, all driven by a broad, strategic vision. Known for his innovative and forward-thinking leadership, Dr. Sun’s contributions have helped establish the “Beijing Experience,” a model of successful educational reform. Under his leadership in Chaoyang District, the quality of education saw consistent improvement, earning national recognition through honors such as "National Advanced Unit for the 'Two Basics' Work," "National Advanced Region for Promoting Balanced Development of Compulsory Education," and "National Demonstration District for Community Education."
